Is there a new building in Ginza which looks like this…?

I just remembered a strange moment at my last exhibition (and yes, its over now, this is the last post about it – I promise!), which I like to share.
An old man came to the gallery and had only a brief look at my pictures on the wall, he obviously didn’t like them. Then he saw some of my postcards on the table (marked as “Take Free”), took the one above and asked my wife “Is this the new building in Ginza?“.
My wife, slightly confused, responded “No, this is a female body“. He looked again and instantly dropped the postcard like a hot potato and left the gallery.
Since this moment I wonder if I missed some kind of architectural wonder somewhere in Ginza… just which building was he referring to??

Back in 2002, there was no Strobist or a small flash culture, but I was already ahead of the times and created this little conception. To test it out, I’ve made an appointment with my friend June in a park and let her test it.

Its over and I survived. My 6th exhibition, held for a week from August 31st until September 6th, 2009 in the gallery Place M was a smashing success. The best feedback was really “I have never seen anything like this before”. In times of Flickr, quite a feast.

You have to start somewhere, so I start here. My first blog post. Mhm, this is not entirely correct, because I maintained a blog already in 1995, just we didn’t called it blogs back then. But this is another story for another day.
My name is Juergen Specht, I work as a photographer, as a technical consultant for (mostly) the photo related industry and starve as an artist while living now since almost 10 years in Tokyo, Japan. Why do I start a blog now when most people already abandoned theirs? It’s a long story, but since a very long time I was mostly busy in non-public forums and mailing lists, for example in D1scussion, a mailing list I founded in 1999. I wrote 4590 posts since its inception, which translates into almost 450 posts per year, or ca. 1.2 posts per day. But D1scussion is just one forum I am active in, there were more. In fact, I am practically always online since 1993.

While I also have a nice web site, I felt too limited to talk only about Nikon cameras or post my pictures without much commentary to my site, so I hope this blog gives me the flexibility to write about just everything which is in my mind. Lets see how it works, I give it a while.
